LAYER

Here is my new Illustration Friday picture.This week's topic is "LAYER".

Although I write down "i have no idea about layers.." in the picture, I really have some idea about this project at first. I try my best but still can not print what I want. So at last, it become like.
The idea which I can't draw is from one fresco from Antonio da Correggio, The "Assumption of the Virgin".
Maybe I can try the idea later......

SWEATER

Here is my new Illustration Friday picture.This week's topic is "SWEATER".





The idea of the drawing comes from Chinese opera and my childhood memory.
Chinese opera is a art that has been past down from ancient China.Performer will wear heavy makeups and complicated dress.The most unique part of their dress is the really long sleeve.We call it "Shui xiu",which mains "water sleeve". When they are performing,performer will let their sleeves to wave in the air,like the water flowing.When I was young,I love to wear my grandmother's sweater,pretend to be an adult.
As the sleeves are too big and long for me,it really make me imagine myself as a Chinese opera performer,waving my long sleeves,singing opera.

REVERSE

Here is my new Illustration Friday picture.This week's topic is "REVERSE".

I got the idea from "TAI JI", a Chinese cosmological term for the "Supreme Ultimate" state of undifferentiated absolute and infinite potentiality.
In the ideology of ancient chinese, the "TAI JI"'s black and white stands for Yin and Yang. The Yin and Yang are like fishes, they chase after each other. They goes in circle, forming a round shape. Chinese people believe that the world is developed from the circle. Just like the bible,the god creates the light and darkness at first. And all colours are developed from black and white.
My works not only represents the reverse of the black and white, I also want to express the feeling that it is changing. Contrast is what motivates changes.
